You are reading the blog of one extremely happy DXer.
For the past few months, I have suspected that my antenna was not working properly. I have tried replacing pieces of coax, connectors, ground wires and every other part. No luck.
Today, on my first day of holidays, I ripped the whole thing down and built an identical one from all new material. What an incredible difference, as you can see by comparing my recent logs with tonight. Signals were fading in 3 hours earlier!!!

Greetings, Terry. Wish you a lot of new DX catches and QSL cards. What was the reason with your antenna? I would like to know, because I installed a new 200 meters beverage (longwire) antenna and will test it the next week.

Hi. Thanks for the nice wishes. I was not able to determine the exact fault in my previous antenna. I suspect that it was gradual breakdown in my coax feed, but not sure.
ReplyDeleteMy antenna is a low noise 70 m long wire based on this design
http://www.iw5edi.com/ham-radio/?low-noise-antenna-connection,45 Reduces local noise to s1-3.
